“Manly-Warringah District Triples Championship

The MWDWA Triples event was held over five days commencing on 24 July through to the 28th.  Host Clubs were Pittwater Memorial, Newport Beach, Seaforth, Dee Why Bowling Clubs with the Final played at Mona Vale Bowling Club.

Eighteen teams within the District competed in this event and, as evidenced in previous District competitions, spectators were treated to some exceptional bowling.

However nothing could compare with the standard of bowls played in the final at Mona Vale. Under extremely difficult conditions with tricky winds and fast greens the girls certainly excelled and produced some extraordinary shots. This was evidenced by the final score of 12-11. Coming into the final end the Dee Why girls were ahead by 2 shots, but the Harbord girls staged a dramatic fight back picking up a 3 and getting home by one shot.

Our thanks to the District Clubs for hosting this five day event and to all the willing volunteers who helped make this event such a success.”

The Region Triples Playoffs was a good close nail biting game with Chris Gordon, Gwen Dessaix (sub for L Belling) and Jan Newell unfortunately loosing 19 - 17 to Neutral Bay's Elizabeth Blackwell, Jenny Palmer and Jenny Hepburn.
